Gothic houses

These palatial buildings are one of the sets of the best preserved medieval old town of Getaria, thanks to a recent restoration. They are the last vestige of the palaces that gave the street the nickname "Torracalea" (Street Towers) reputed residence of merchants and ship-owners in the Middle Ages. Noted for their keystone facades and especially for the delicate decoration of its windows, from which we can see a similar example in the rear facade of Zarautz Palace (Aldamar Street). The rows of brackets façade had served to support a wooden structure (possibly a gallery or balcony) now defunct.
